Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Two significant developments stemming from a Thursday Buffalo protest incident that saw an elderly man pushed to the sidewalk by Buffalo Police and led to a serious head injury and international scrutiny of the department.
The two suspended police officers will be arraigned on felony charges in city court Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Police Benevolent Association President John Evans says all 57 members of the Buffalo Police Emergency Reponse Team have resigned from that team.in support of two suspended Buffalo Police officers.
The officers were suspended after being caught on video pushing 75 year old Martin Gugino to the ground in front of Buffalo City Hall as a protest was being dispersed Thursday night.
Evans tells WBEN the officers resigned from the team as a show of support for the suspended officers and "disgust for the administration that is not backing them."
Evans says those officers remain in regular officer roles with the BPD.
