A new poll from Amazon and market research firm Ipsos indicates a majority of Americans believe the federal minimum wage, currently $7.25 an hour, is too low and should be increased.
Amazon hiked its starting wage for all U.S. employees to $15 an hour in 2018, and said more than half of its front-line workers in the U.S. now earn more than that hourly figure.
The online giant is urging other large businesses to follow its lead and boost their own starting wages.
