Lyric Stage is kicking off its 30th season with their first ever production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella this weekend. And the players are pumped to hit the stage.

"It's such a fun role and I was so excited to get the opportunity," says Sadat Hossain, who plays the prince. "He's not a typical 2-D character where he just acts charming the whole time. He's a guy that's actually going through stuff and trying to figure out who he is."

"It's just fun to take his character and put my own spin on it, and be a hopeless romantic all at the same time."

Houssain, who is of middle eastern descent, is part of a talented, diverse cast.

"It was such an experience to be able to share the stage with people of color and take on this iconic show," Houssain reflects.

And as for Cinderella herself? Well, Houssain couldn't stop bragging about Rachel Nicole Poole, who plays the title character.

"She is such a great actress and performer," Houssain gushed. "It's amazing. She's so talented. She's so funny. She sings beautifully. Anybody that comes to see her as Cinderella is going to be amazed!"

Cinderella is performed with a full orchestra, led by Bruce Greer, elevating the production to an elite level, Broadway-like experience.

Cinderella is playing Thursday, August 24 through Sunday, August 27 at Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas. Performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
