"The story is about a descendant of Victor Frankenstein, the original doctor who made the monster in the book," says Shawn Lane, who plays Freddie Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen").
"Freddie gets called to go to Transylvania...because Victor recently died." He continued, "The story is about him traveling to Transylvania and slowly realizing that he wants to continue his family legacy by creating another Frankenstein's monster. And hilarity ensues when the monster escapes and all the villagers try to kill everybody."
Featuring a combination of witty one-liners, unforgettable musical numbers, and classic Mel Brooks humor, Lane highlighted the show's fun and laughter.
"If you come, you are definitely gonna laugh. I can promise you that. You might not laugh at every one of our jokes, but I promise, one of them will get you," Lane said.
"I love playing Freddie. He's pretty shallow on a surface level, with all the one-liners, but what's really cool is that our director is working to put a lot of truth into the moments that don't have a lot of them already." Lane added, "So it's very fun for me to try and put a little bit of my true self into some of those small, silent moments. The role is truly a joy."
Young Frankenstein is playing October 6-8 and October 12-15. Tickets range from $20 to $35.
