Usually when people move to Texas, all they can talk about is how much they love the Lone Star State. For most, they learn not to mess with Texas quickly, but apparently one new resident didn’t get the memo. Food blogger Mike Chen recently moved to DFW, and while he has had plenty of good to say about his new home, his latest food review calls out local favorite Pecan Lodge.

Since Mike Chen, who has a YouTube following of over 3.5 million, moved to Texas he has been chronicling his experience online. Despite opening a new restaurant in Houston, the food blogger decided to move to Allen, Texas thanks to DFW’s burgeoning Asian restaurant scene, according to Dallas Culture Map. While many of his reviews thus far have been positive, his review of Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum was a bit of a disappointment.

“I wanted a beef rib which is the Cadillac, the Rolls Royce, the Halle Berry of BBQ meat, but they sold out within one hour. The biggest mistake I made was not specifying I wanted fatty brisket," said Chen. While many were upset he didn’t give their favorite BBQ spot a good review, at least it was more about preference than selection. Soon enough, Chen will learn not to mess with Texas.
