Ford is issuing a recall for one of its biggest sellers following 27 reports regarding driveshaft problems.

Officials with the Dearborn automaker say they’ll be mailing recall notices to owners of nearly 185,000 2021-2022 F-150 pickup trucks.

Ford officials sent a notice the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earlier this month,

In that notice, officials say the driveshaft can fracture, potentially preventing wheels from turning properly and increasing crash risk.

The vehicles impacted by the recall are only a small percentage of F-150's built in the past year.

Information as to the applicability of this action to specific vehicles can best be obtained by either calling Ford’s toll-free line (1-866-436-7332) or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer who can obtain specific information regarding the vehicles from the Ford On-line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) database.

Owners of the affected vehicles are expected to get instructions in the mail.

More information on the recall can be found on the NHTSA website.

Let's make sure to add the following at the bottom of our articles moving forward. Also feel free to save this google doc coming from Bill Smee and Christy on news best practices: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ekuMXJSxYXaaPXzNiRou0AN_EsUoDTWx8GKrim20AlQ/edit

We're already doing most of these. We do need to get better about adding and In-Line article... doesn't always have to relate but it could be another local, national, or politics story.
