JC Penney has cut one and half percent of its workforce, as it tries to restructure following its Chapter 11 filing in December.
According to reports, about 100 of the jobs eliminated were part of the Texas-based corporate staff. Another 650 jobs were cut in stores and field operations.
JC Penney filed for bankruptcy a year ago and was later sold to its largest landlords, Simon Property Group and Brookfield Asset Management.
The company left its longtime headquarters in Plano last year and is still searching for a new permanent home.
