Luke Wilson may be a Hollywood celebrity, but he makes sure to show his North Texas roots any chance he gets. After starring in ’12 Mighty Orphans,’ the story of a Great Depression football team from Fort Worth, in 2021, Wilson is back starring in yet another film about an iconic Fort Worth team.

It was recently announced Wilson will star in ‘You Gotta Believe,’ which will tell the story of Fort Worth’s 2002 Westside Little League team.

Back in 2002, the Westside Little League team captured hearts around the world as they competed in the Little League World Series, playing for one of their player’s father, who battled melanoma for a year, but still to made it to the series to cheer on the team.

According to Dallas Morning News, Wilson will portray the player’s father alongside Greg Kinnear, Sarah Gadon and Molly Parker.

“We will definitely have a premiere in Fort Worth,” said Wilson. While many throughout the metroplex can’t wait to see the film, some can still remember the team’s run through the Little League World Series over two decades ago. Maybe the movie will inspire another DFW Little League team to make it to the Little League World Series.
