Nearly two dozen North Texas companies have landed on this year's Fortune 500 list.
Many of the names are household names including Exxon Mobil which is still based in Irving. Exxon which is relocating its headquarters to Spring next year is ranked 6th, the highest North Texas firm on the list.
Other companies familiar to North Texans include AT&T, American Airlines, D.R. Horton, Kimberly-Clark, Texas Instruments and Southwest Airlines.
The only North Texas based company to drop off this year is Westlake-based Core-Mark which is a distributor for some major convenience store chains like 7-Eleven and Murphy USA.
Last year, Core-Mark was acquired by a competitor and is no longer ranked individually.
