Gasoline is expensive. Airfares are up. More families are looking to save money this summer by staying home by the pool.
Pool maintenance expert Will Smith is with Premium Poolsmith of Grapevine. He said there are essential steps pool owners should follow on a regular basis, including daily monitoring of the water level, emptying baskets and checking the cleaning systems and filters and testing the water in the pool.
Smith told the KRLD Morning News more North Texans are switching to saltwater pools, estimating about 40% of his local customers have made the change. He said the initial conversion is more pricey, but added the long-term savings on chemicals and other maintenance products add up.
