With their loss to the Detroit Tigers Thursday, the Texas Rangers have reached the midpoint of their season on pace to win 98 games.

Losing to the Tigers 8-5 leaves the Rangers with a first half record of 49-32, a .605 winning percentage and good for a five game lead over the second-place Houston Astros who are in town tonight to open a four-game series at Globe Life Field.

With their winning percentage after 81 games, Las Vegas oddsmakers gives the Rangers a 68.5% chance of winning the American League West and a 93.2% chance of making the postseason as either the division winner or a Wild Card team If the first half pace continues. That 98 wins would be the best record in franchise history dating back to 1961 when the team was still the Washington Senators.

To this point, the Rangers' best season was 2011 when the club won 96 games and went on to win the American League pennant for the second straight season.
