A restaurant bearing the name of Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith is now the subject of a $67 million lawsuit.
Emmitt Smith announced in December 2021 he would open a restaurant called "Emmitt’s Las Vegas" on the Las Vegas strip in 2022.
At the time, reports say the restaurant would occupy 30,000 square feet in the Fashion Show mall, with chef Rainer Schwarz creating the menu.
But as of now, the restaurant is still not open and Schwarz is suing some of his former business partners alleging they “arranged a conspiracy" to steal the opportunity to open and operate Emmitt’s for themselves, while cutting Chef Rainer and others out of the deal entirely.
Trilogy F&B Group LLC, the majority owner of the restaurant and leaseholder, claim the chef has incurred more than $2.2 million in costs related to the opening of Emmitt’s and that only about half of that has been reimbursed.
Chef Rainer LLC now seeks a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction preventing defendants from what the complaint describes as “inflicting these irreparable harms” according to Eater Las Vegas.
Emmitt Smith himself is not named in the lawsuit.
