Six Flags has announced it is eliminating 240 jobs, about ten percent of its full-time workforce.
The news was revealed yesterday in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Arlington-based company tells the SEC the cuts are "part of its transformation productivity initiatives." Furthermore, Six Flags says "affected employees are being offered severance pay in accordance with Company policy or, if applicable, their employment agreements, as well as outplacement services."
The main blame for this is put on the Coronavirus outbreak.
In the 2nd quarter, Six Flags revenues were down more than 95 percent from the year before.
