While there are many reasons to love the State Fair of Texas, it's the food that brings many back year after year. While it may not be the healthiest cuisine, plenty wish they could enjoy their state fair favorites year round. Luckily, one of the most popular chefs at the state fair recently opened a new restaurant in Dallas, bringing a new concept featuring Tex-Mex and smoked meats to the area.
Local restauranteur and State Fair contest winner Abel Gonzales recently debut his new "AG Texican" at 7101 Harry Hines Blvd. The new restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday and features Gonzales trademark barbecue and Texan food. "It's purely a breakfast and lunch place, but we're doing smoked brisket and pork and sausage, so you can get your morning taco with regular sausage or smoked sausage, or a smoked brisket taco with fried egg. It's that irresistible combination of Texas and Mexican food," said Gonzales.
