Tanger Factory Outlet center in Fort Worth installs beehives on roof

Some unlikely visitors are swarming to one of the most popular outlet malls here in North Texas.

The Tanger Factory Outlet Center in northeast Fort Worth is welcoming bees to the building. At least 50,000 of them. but its not what you might think.

A new beehive installation on the roof will allow a safe haven for honeybees whose population has seen a significant decline.

The rooftop beehive project is part of a partnership with the beekeeping company Alvéole which focuses on increasing the population of the urban pollinators by building ecological awareness, more sustainable cities and food system.

The group says the pollinating insects have been in danger of extinction through habitat loss, pesticide use, parasites and more.

Tanger outlets and Alveole hoppe to engage the community by raising awareness of environmental issues as well as providing sustainability for the bees.
