On Monday temperatures at the track were recorded at just over 34 degrees in the morning and it was still just 40 degrees at noon.

Several drivers including Jimmie Johnson had to call it a day.

The series has a formula for deciding if weather conditions are safe; the total ambient temperature and the track temperature have to be at least 100 degrees. Temperatures Tuesday morning, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings are predicted to be in the low to mid-30s again.

On Saturday morning, we could be in the mid-20s. So the drivers may not be able to make their test runs for a while.
