Texas leads the nation in workers heading back into the office, so it makes sense that the Lone Star States works the most hours, too.
A new study from the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that Texans “log the most working hours,” with Texans working nearly 1,800 hours annually, amounting to an average of 34.43 hours a week.
According to the personal finance website FinanceBuzz, Austin and Dallas are recognized as cities with some of the most overworked employees, with Austin workers driving longer hours than most other cities, and Dallas with not only has one of the longest commute times among leading cities, but also has the highest percentages of workers 65 and older.
The top five most overworked cities are:
Texas, with 34.42 weekly hours worked with 1,790 annual hours over 12,588,259 jobs
Louisiana, with 34.37 weekly hours, 1,787 annual hours across 1,759,027 jobs
West Virginia, with 34.11 weekly hours, 1,773 annual hours across 585,333 jobs
Wyoming, with 34.09 weekly hours, 1,773 annual, across 236,398 jobs
Tennessee, with 33.88 weekly hours, 1,762 annual, across 3,058,778 jobs
According to the study, last on the list is Delaware with 31.1 hours per job weekly across more than 427,000 jobs.
