You can't boycott Israel if you want to do business in Texas. It's a state law that is being backed by the courts, for now.
Since 2017, a law has stopped any party who has a contract with a Texas city from boycotting Israel. The law was recently challenged by a long-time Houston consulting firm that is owned by a Palestinian proponent of a movement that backs economic sactions against Israel.
A & R Engineering and Testing's contract came up for renewal two years ago. When the language from the anti-boycotting law was inserted by the city of Houston, the company owner refused to sign it and filed suit against the city and the Texas Attorney General.
The has company won an injunction from a federal judge blocking enforcement of the law. Houston ultimately dropped the anti-boycotting language, but the 5th Circuit isn't letting go of the case, saying the attorney general is still blocked from enforcing the law even though the office hasn't tried in this case.
The Court says there are jurisdictional issues and pulled the injunction and dissmissed the Texas Attorney General from the lawsuit.
