Ferguson, Missouri Elects First Black, Female Mayor in City History

Voters picked their first woman and first African-American mayor.


Councilwoman Ella Jones beat Heather Robinett 54 to 46 percent.

This was Jones' second run at the office; she lost to James Knowles III in 2017. Knowles couldn't run again because of term limits.

In other races, Richmond Heights Mayor Jim Thomson and Wildwood's Jim Bowlin both were re-elected with 64 percent of the vote.

A three-way race in Breckenridge Hills goes to Jack Shrewsbury.

Incumbent Berkeley Mayor Ted Hoskins lost after felony charges were filed against him. Babatunde Deinbo won with 42 percent of the vote.
