The funeral is today for Southlake police Sergeant John Stokes who died last month from what was described as a "sudden medical event."
The 1 p.m. service at Gateway Church will be limited to 1,200 people because of Coronavirus concerns.
The final 21 years of Stokes' law enforcement career were spent with the Southlake Department of Public Safety and he was well known and well liked by students in the Carroll school district because he had been serving as School Resource Officer Supervisor for Carroll schools.
While not giving his specific cause of death, commanders did confirm it was not from the Coronavirus.
