DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - NewsRadio 1080 KRLD is the recipient of three prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced the 2024 winners Monday.

KRLD took home an award in the Breaking News Coverage for extensive coverage about a shooting at the State Fair with news alerts being sent out just minutes after shots were fired.

The station also took home an award in the Excellence in Innovation category for JFK: 60 Years To The Moment - a one-hour special covering a minute-by-minute retrospective of the day that changed America forever.

The one-hour special included live reports from Dallas' Love Field airport, Parkland Hospital and Dealey Plaza. It also included archived audio, deep to the history of KRLD, as it was there, covering the assassination 60 years ago.

KRLD also nabbed the award for Overall Excellence.

"The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism. I'm so proud that the Radio Television Digital News Association recognized the outstanding work of our team of dedicated journalists at NewsRadio 1080 KRLD with these three Regional awards," said Drew Anderssen, KRLD's brand manager.

"It's a reflection of the great work being done every day to serve the needs of DFW consumers with vital news, weather, and traffic information."
