On Friday a Dallas County judge decided that a 16-year-old can be tried as an adult for the murder of man who was simply loading his SUV with groceries.
Last November, Ali Elbanna was shot and killed while loading groceries in the parking lot of the Costco off Park Lane in Northeast Dallas.
Since that time, Elbanna's family pushed for the teen to be tried as an adult.
Last week, the judge heard the teen had a history of criminal behavior beginning at the age of 12, including aggravated robberies and threatening to shoot up a school.
The teen was even on probation and wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the murder, according to police.
Now that he will be tried as an adult, he faces life in prison.
