One person has now died as a result of a fire Monday morning in Dallas. Dallas Fire Rescue received a 911 call about a fire at a duplex on Boedeker Street, west of the Highway 75 and Royal Lane interchange, at 5:47 a.m.

The department says the first crews arrived and learned people might still be inside, so "attack teams deployed hand lines and immediately moved in for fire suppression, and search and rescue operations."

Crews found and rescued two people who were inside the house. The two were given treatment at the scene and then both went to the hospital in critical condition. Monday afternoon, Dallas Fire Rescue said one of those two had died; the other was still critical.

Dallas Fire Rescue says a firefighter also went to the hospital with a lower leg injury. The department says the firefighter was stable and "expected to make a full recovery."

Three people from the other side of the duplex escaped without injury. The Red Cross is helping those three find a place to stay.

No one else was hurt. Dallas Fire Rescue says the fire was extinguished about 9 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
