DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Texas and Oklahoma fans will pack the State Fair of Texas Saturday for the 2024 Allstate Red River Rivalry. The State Fair of Texas expects 200,000 visitors with more than 90,000 attending the game at the Cotton Bowl.

"Due to the historically large crowds on this day, the State Fair will likely open early for the Red River Rivalry," says Karissa Condoianis.

The State Fair's security, Dallas Police, Dallas ISD Police and DART Police say they start planning security for the fair's full 24 day run in January. They also plan ahead for the additional crowds this weekend.

"We want to make sure you get to enjoy your time at the State Fair," says Dallas Police Assistant Chief Teena Schultz. "If you notice anything suspicious, that includes bags, it's important that you say something. Report it because your assistance is essential to maintaining a safe environment for everybody."

The Cotton Bowl follows NFL rules allowing only clear bags. No backpacks, duffel bags, fanny packs or tote bags will be allowed. A complete list of approved items is available here.

That site also includes a fan "Code of Conduct." The Code of Conduct is new in 2024 and follows NCAA guidelines requiring fan behavior "to be of a respectful level prior to, during, and after each competition."

The Code of Conduct forbids using "racist, sexist, threatening, or inflammatory language" or wearing clothes with obscene graphics or profane language. The code also forbids throwing things onto the field and possession of alcohol by minors.

This year, the State Fair of Texas also banned guns except for current or retired police.

"The State Fair adopts the most up-to-date, recommended security practices for special events of our size and constantly evaluates additional measures to increase our effectiveness," Condoianis says.

A complete rundown of the State Fair of Texas' security measures is available here.

The Allstate Red River Rivalry starts at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
