A 3-year-old child died after being shot early Sunday in Southeast Oak Cliff, according to Dallas police.
Officers were called around 1 a.m. to the 4900 block of Wadsworth Drive for a reported shooting. Police said in a news release that officers found an unresponsive child who had been shot.
The child was taken to a hospital but later died.
Neighbors are mourning the loss as investigators work to determine what happened.
Police have not said whether the shooting was accidental or whether anyone has been arrested.
The investigation is ongoing. Dallas police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
