A 5-year-old Garland girl died Tuesday night after she was found unresponsive inside a vehicle, police said.
Garland police and firefighters responded to a home on Redbird Drive around 8:20 p.m. for a medical emergency. Family members had already begun CPR when first responders arrived.
Police said an adult family member had returned home from school with the girl and her sibling and left the 5-year-old inside the vehicle. After realizing she was missing, family members searched for her and found her unresponsive in the vehicle.
The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police said no charges have been filed as investigators work to determine the circumstances leading to the child's death.
