DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A new development in Wednesday's shooting death of a child in Old East Dallas.

Police have now arrested a man on a tampering-with-evidence charge. Damariya Sowels was booked into the Dallas County jail overnight.


Wednesday, six-year-old Aylayna Ross was shot at the family home on Fitzhugh Avenue and died at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Police now say there were two adults in the house along with Aylayna and another child and that the handgun involved was unsecured, meaning the children had access to it.

It's a double tragedy for the family. At the time, Aylayna's mother was at a funeral home making arrangements to bury her 14-year-old son who was shot and killed in Dallas just two weeks ago.

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A 6-year-old has died in a local hospital after being shot on Wednesday afternoon, sources tell KRLD.

According to the confirmed report, the shooting happened on N. Fitzhugh Avenue in Dallas. Police arrived to the scene after being called and found a 6-year-old girl shot.

The child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where she died from their injuries. No suspect information has been given.
