GARLAND, TX (1080 KRLD) -- A tragic accident occurred in Garland where a driver crashed into an apartment complex, killing a person inside.
Police say it happened just after 9 Tuesday morning. They believe the driver was heading east on Fieldcrest at Jupiter Road when he had some kind of medical episode and lost control of his car.
He collided with another car before driving through the entrance of an apartment complex directly across from Fieldcrest Drive, and into a building where the car then struck a 71-year-old woman inside.
The woman, identified as Plautila Aguirre, was killed. The driver was taken to the hospital but has been released. Police say he is cooperating with the investigation, but no criminal charges are expected. The driver of the car that was struck was uninjured.
The Garland Police Department says it extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking incident.
