Veterinarians at Texas A&M are doing a necropsy, the term for an autopsy on an animal, to learn the cause of death for Kozmo, the Mesquite police dog who died this week during a pursuit of three men who his in a wooded area after a police chase.

After the men were captured, with Kozmo's help, the dog was nowhere to be found. About an hour later, he was found dead in the woods but the cause of death was not clear.

The veterinarians at Texas A&M's Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital will determine that.
