GRAPEVINE (1080 KRLD) - This weekend in Grapevine, you can catch a different kind of rodeo.
In this rodeo, competitors will not be on the backs of horses or bulls -- instead, they'll be on motorcycles.
This is the Back The Blue Motorcycle Rodeo, and it takes place Friday and Saturday with more than 100 motorcycle officers competing.
The competition doubles as important training for the motorcycle officers.
"It's a way for us to get police officers that have been trained to be motorcycle officers out under a pressure environment that creates stress on them so they get to learn to ride with precision, but do it under stress," says Grapevine Officer R.J. Hudson.
In order to add to the stress, they need all the spectators they can get.
"The competition is what helps that, because now you're competing against your friends, so there's more pressure on you to do well as a team, and some of the team events that we'll be doing on Saturday," says Hudson.
The event is free and takes place in Lot 1B outside Grapevine Mills Mall.
