Early Monday morning, an explosion and fire at a North Texas home killed two people and left most of the home in shambles.

Neighbors left reports of hearing the explosion around 1:30 Monday morning in Van Alstyne, north of Anna. When firefighters got to the home, they could see flames shooting out.

Several departments helped out including Gunter, Anna, and a half dozen others. According to officials, this fire was hard to put out because there were no hydrants in the area. Crews had to use a drop tan and shuttle water in from the nearest hydrant.

They got the fire knocked down, but the explosion leveled two-thirds of the house and two people were killed. Fire investigators are working to figure out how it all started.
