A huge grass fire is burning in east Fort Worth.
Craig Trojacek, Fort Worth Fire spokesman, says it's burning northeast of the I-30/I-820 East Loop interchange.
"It's in a heavily treed part of our territory," says Trojacek, "so crews are having a hard time getting the hoses in and the trucks in to fight the fire. We've probably got about 70 firefighters on the scene combating this thing, about 12 engines and eight brush trucks."
The size and containment of the fire are unknown at this time.
"There's no structures that are threatened," says Trojacek. "There's been no evacuations taken place. We're making sure the crews are being rotated as much as possible to keep them fresh and hydrated."
The fire is the latest in a string of grass fires throughout North Texas, caused by the continued hot, dry conditions.
