52-year-old Edgardo Serrano admitted he carried $1,758,465 in proceeds in his truck from Florida to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.
Investigators say the money would be delivered into Mexico to drug cartel members. Investigators say trucks would first pick up cocaine from South Texas and then drive it to Florida for illegal sale.
Serrano agreed to forfeit the money from the cocaine sales. U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. accepted Serrano's guilty plea and set sentencing for Feb. 9, 2021.
He could face up to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of $500,000.
