AAA Texas is teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the City of Dallas Judiciary for a free course for young drivers.
It is this weekend at the Fretz Park Recreation Center in North Dallas.
AAA's Daniel Armbruster says they've found a slight decrease in the number of teens driving as soon as they reach 16.
"There are still plenty of teens out there that are taking those learn to drive courses and of course concerned parents who are worried about their child getting behind the wheel for the first time," Armbruster said.
The course starts runs from 11:00am until 1:00pm Saturday.
"As we see based on statistics, Texas roadways aren't getting safer," Armbruster said. "Whether that's speeding, whether that's impairment, whether that's distraction."
Motor vehicle crashes remain one of the leading causes of death for young drivers.
