When your phone buzzes with some sort of alert, do you ever wonder what it means? Most of us know what an Amber Alert is, but what a Clear Alert? A Silver Alert? A Blue Alert?

An Amber Alert is when a child under the age of 17 is abducted. Amber stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created in memory of Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old Arlington girl who was kidnapped and murdered in January 1996. Her killer was never found.

The Amber Alert system has changed the way police search for missing children. A Clear Alert is for an adult between the ages of 18 and 64 has gone missing, a Silver Alert is when a senior citizen cannot be located, and a Blue Alert is issued to help find a suspect wanted for killing or injuring a police officer.
