ALLEN (1080 KRLD)- An Allen High School teacher has been placed on leave after allegations were made against him.
The school district says it was notified a week ago that Allen High School teacher Matthew McDermott may have engaged in some sort of inappropriate communication with a high school student. The district launched an investigation, placed McDermott on administrative leave and says Allen Police are looking into the allegations as well.
The school district also says it notified the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the State Board for Educator Certification about the allegations. The district is encouraging anyone with information surrounding the incident to please email communications@allenisd.org.
Comments may also be directed toward the Allen PD through Detective Adames at 214-509-4256 or jadames@cityofallen.org. Anonymous tips may be sent to Allen ISD via text message by texting "AISD" and your tip to 847411 (TIP411).
McDermott has been a teacher at that school since 2017.
