The Allen school district will be spending around $700,000 to put armed security guards at all elementary schools.
The new armed guards will also be at the Anderson Early Childhood Center, both of which do not currently have assigned Allen police officers serving as School Resource Officers as does the high school and the middle schools.
At a spccial meeting on Monday evening trustees were unanimous in approving a contract with a private security company who assured the school board that all of its security guards have police or military experience.
The company says it can have all campuses covered by August 10th, the first day of school in Allen.
