An Amber Alert issued for 13-year-old Kaylin Rickards of Grapevine has been canceled after police confirmed the teen was located safe early Wednesday morning in Houston. Investigators determined Rickards was not abducted but was attempting to travel back home to Georgia on her own.

Grapevine Police said detectives worked the case overnight as a critical runaway investigation. With help from the Houston Police Department, the teen was found at a bus terminal around 4 a.m. and taken into custody without incident.

The Amber Alert had been issued Tuesday evening after witnesses reported seeing Rickards get into a white pickup truck outside the Grapevine Public Library. Police now say that vehicle is no longer considered part of the investigation.

Authorities thanked the public for their support and assistance during the search.
