Just in time for the busy Summer travel season, American Airlines and the Transportation Security Administration have rolled out TSA PreCheck Touchless ID at all of the carrier’s hub airports.

The touchless identification system allows eligible passengers to verify their identity using facial recognition, eliminating the need to show a physical ID at security checkpoints.

Customers traveling through Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK and LGA), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix (PHX) and Washington, D.C. (DCA), can verify their identity using secure facial-matching technology without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass. In addition to American’s hubs, the program is available at 60 U.S. airports where the airline operates.

Airline officials say the expansion is designed to streamline screening and reduce wait times for travelers.

“Expanding TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID across our hub network is an important step in our commitment to creating a more seamless and efficient travel experience,” said American’s Chief Operating Officer David Seymour. “Our customers value speed, convenience and choice, and this partnership with TSA delivers all three.”

American and the TSA will continue working together to expand the program to additional airports in the months ahead, with a focus on delivering a consistent, streamlined experience across the travel journey.
