State leaders in Austin are putting out a call for small towns to collect some COVID-19 relief funds they are entitled too.
Some of the money allocated under the American Rescue Plan Act was specifically set aside for towns with a population of less than 50,000.
Officials say they can use the money on expenses related to dealing with COVID-19 including medical supplies and hospital staffing.
Local governments can apply for the help through the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
Suburbs like Addison near Dallas and Alamo Heights near San Antonio have already applied, along with smaller towns including Lampasas and Lindale.
