If you're in the market for an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid, the State of Texas may have free money for you, but you need to act fast.
The Light Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Program through the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan is underway.
Among other things, the program offers grants of up to $2,00 each for purchases or leases of qualifying electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids. That's on top of the federal tax credit of up to $7,500 on qualifying EVs.
So if you're in the market for an EV, now is the time to make your move.
There's a limit of 2,000 grants, and the state tells 1080 KRLD as of late last week, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has received more than a thousand applications.
