Argyle Middle School is mourning the loss of their Principal, Scott Gibson.

Gibson, who had been at the helm of AMS since 2009, died following an accident out of state on Sunday. He leaves behind his wife, Jodie, who is a speech language pathologist at West Elementary in the district, and four children.

"He was a dedicated and engaging leader who inspired staff and created a positive learning environment for his students," Argyle ISD Superintendent, Dr. Courtney Carpenter said in a statement. "The inspiration for his career in public education came from his parents after seeing the impact they had on their students."

Students at AMS were informed of Gibson's passing Tuesday morning. Grief counselors are being made available from both Argyle ISD and neighboring Denton ISD.

All after school activities at Argyle Middle School have been cancelled today.

Memorial service arrangements are pending.
