A student at McNutt Elementary School is in custody after bringing an unloaded handgun to campus and making verbal threats, according to Arlington police.
Officers were called to the school Wednesday after staff reported the incident. Police say the weapon was not loaded, and no one was injured. The student was taken into custody without further disturbance.
Investigators are now working to determine how the child obtained the firearm and whether any adults may face charges. The district says safety procedures were followed and there was no ongoing threat to students or staff.
The investigation remains active.
