UAW members from the General Motors assembly plant in Arlington have an early Christmas present, their union's strike against the auto company is officially over.

Late last month, the United Auto Workers announced a deal with GM to end a six-week strike. But getting a deal is one thing, getting it ratified by the rank and file is quite another.

Earlier this week, reports circulated that the vote was not going well and the deal might be in jeopardy. But just yesterday, the Arlington GM worker's vote was announced and a full 60% of the vote was to take the deal.

That vote seemingly tipped the balance because this morning the UAW confirmed information on its Website showing the pact was approved by 55% of the union members nationwide.

They think it's a good deal. By 2028, top GM assembly line workers will be making an estimated $42 an hour.
