A man is in custody after police say he confessed to stabbing a child to death in Arlington.
Police said the case began when the man assaulted an Arlington police officer and fled, leading officers on a brief pursuit. After he was taken into custody, police said he told officers a stabbing had just occurred.
Officers went to an apartment and found a 5-year-old boy suffering from stab wounds. The child was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A second child was also injured in the incident.
Arlington homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing and working to determine what led to the attack.
