A test drive turns deadly for an Arlington man.
Police found Khudhair Hamdan, 55, shot along Port Richmond Way at around 6:00 Tuesday evening.
He was rushed to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.
"Mr. Hamdan was helping a family member sell a car via a social media app and he'd arranged to meet with a potential buyer to do a test drive of the car," said Tim Ciesco, Arlington Police spokesman. "We think when they were on that test drive along Port Richmond Way, one of the suspects that was in the car with him pulled out a gun and shot him."
Investigators said the two men were trying to make off with the car, but they ended up abandoning it.
"We were able to find the vehicle that they drove off in, the vehicle that the victim was trying to sell, behind a nearby shopping center at the intersection Sublett and Matlock," said Ciesco. "We think something happened to where they were no longer able to drive it, and that's why they left."
The two men are still on the loose.
If you have any information on their whereabouts, do not approach them under any circumstances and call Det. Simmons at 817-459-5735.
You can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
Ciesco says when selling anything online, it's in your best interest to meet up with the potential buyer in the parking lot of a police station.
"At all of our police stations, all four of them here in the city, we have designated safe exchange zones, where folks can feel a lot more comfortable making those exchanges because they're within a sight line of an officer who can respond if anything goes sideways," Ciesco said.
