The city of Arlington doesn't like a mural depicting a classic moment in Texas Rangers history, one that many fans love to see.
A new restaurant called Gilberto's Taco Shop is soon to open on Park Row. Owner Jose Ruiz says he wanted something iconic on the outside of the building so he commissioned artist Juan Velazquez to paint a mural showing the exact instant when, in 2016, then Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor landed a hard right hook to the jaw of the Toronto Blue Jays' Jose Bautista after Bautista slid hard into second to break up a double play.
The punch sent Bautista's helmet and sunglasses flying and led to a benches-clearing brawl. Both Odor and Bautista were ejected.
As much as the moment is beloved by Rangers fans, Ruiz says he learned the city might have an issue with the mural.
The city's Planning and Development Services Department intends to seek the opinion of the City Council.
Velazquez says in a social media post "I'm telling you right now, I ain’t removing anything."
