An Arlington mom is now on a mission to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl, so no other parent ever has to go through this alone.

Patricia Saldivar says her daughter Cassandra died over Memorial Day weekend, after taking one pill.

"She took a Percocet, and it was laced with fentanyl.. and that took her life," said Saldivar.

The 22 year old leaves a 2-year-old son without a mother.

So Saldivar is paying $2,100 dollars for a billboard next to AT&T Stadium for the next four weeks hoping to educate everyone.

The DEA in Dallas has warned of criminal drug networks in Mexico making fentanyl laced pills using chemicals sourced mostly from China. Those pills are making it to the streets of North Texas.

MedStar, in Tarrant County, says there have been at least 100 fentanyl overdoses. In North Texas, the number of deaths is rising.

The Drug Enforcement Administration says there have been 93,000 overdoses in the U.S.
