Arlington out of first batch of vaccines

ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Those looking to get their COVID-19 vaccines in Arlington will have to wait a few more days.

The Arlington Fire Department says it has administered all 3,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine that it received.

But more is on the way.

"We anticipate the arrival of another batch as early as next week," says Arlington Fire Lt. Richard Fegan. "We do not have a defined date or amount."

When vaccinations do resume at Esports Stadium, people will no longer need to pre-register -- there will be a new procedure in place.

"Whenever you get in, we'll have a rotating QR code for people to register with," says Lt. Fegan. "They scan it with their phone, and then it simply gets them in the system. And then they get in and get their vaccine, which is verified once they're at the vaccine table."

The goal behind this change is to ensure that everyone can register as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

"It helps out for those who have internet issues or have issues registering from afar," says Fagen. "It just streamlines it, so whenever they get here, everyone just gets it knocked out and gets their vaccine shortly after."

Those who don't have smartphones will not be left out.

"We do have tables here, and they can do registration with an employee who's at a laptop," Lt. Fegan says.

Officials are very pleased with how the administration of the first round of shots went.

"The citizens were great," says Lt. Fegan. "We're happy that they were willing to show up here and get vaccinated."
