Arlington Police say someone was shot near Sam Houston High School.
It happened just after 1:00 this afternoon. Police say one person was taken to the hospital.
Sam Houston was placed on lockdown, and the school district subsequently went to work on a controlled release. Parents and buses could go to the west side of the school on Billy Stewart Drive.
The district released students in waves to parents. The district says Adams Elementary School and Atherton Elementary School were also placed on a temporary lockout. Police said there were no active threats on campus.
The lockouts have since been lifted.
Anita Foster of Arlington ISD released this message:
"Because of police activity in the area, Sam Houston High School, Adams Elementary School and Atherton Elementary School were placed on a temporary lockout at 1:30 p.m. All students are safe inside the buildings. The Arlington Poice Department is investigating."
